Mrs. Munk's Ipad Rules - ThingLink

Proposed Project Summary
Ipads are becoming a larger part of school classrooms, so I wanted to create a guideline of rules for using Ipads in my classroom. I made this to help my students understand what the expectations are and have something to refer back to. I would have the Thinglink image as the background on all the Ipads so the students would see it and be reminded of the rules every time they used them. As situations arise, I could involve the students in adding rules or more specific guidelines, which could then be added to the Thinglink.

What is the BIG idea I want my students to walk away with?

I want my students to learn to responsibility and stewardship. By letting them "own" the Ipads (each student would have an assigned Ipad) and have responsibility for them in the classroom, they will learn appropriate habits of care for others' possessions as well as their own. They will learn how important it is to treat things appropriately and respectfully.

Statement of Need (Why does this project need to be done)

Learning to respect and take care of things will be beneficial for them throughout their life, especially as they get jobs and have more responsibilities. If they learn now to take care of things and to be conscious of their actions, they will greatly benefit later on in all aspects of life.

Social Studies - Grade 1
Standard 2 (Citizenship):

Students will recognize their roles and responsibilities in the school and in the neighborhood.

Educational Technology - Grades 3-5
Standard 7:
Use telecommunications and on-line resources (e.g., email, online discussions, web environments) to participate in collaborative problem-solving activities to develop solutions or products for audiences inside and outside the classroom. (4, 5)

Mrs. Munk's Pointillism Project - Glogster

Pointillism is such an amazing technique...:

Go here to see Mrs. Munk's Pointillism Project!

Proposed Project Summary

My students will learn about the art technique of pointillism through viewing my glogster presentation. They will learn who created the technique, see examples of artwork, and view a video of how to create value using pointillism. After the presentation, they will choose a piece of work they would like to do using pointillism and work on creating it. Once finished,we will display their artwork in the school hallways for other students and parents to see.

What is the BIG idea I want my students to walk away with?

I want my students to understand what pointillism is and how to implement use it in their artwork. They will also see how to add value to their works and be able to create the picture they see in their minds.

Statement of Need (Why does this project need to be done)

This will help my students break down the artistic process by understanding color and value and how they work together. By letting them choose a project to do using pointillism, they will have a chance to tap into their creativity.

Visual Arts - Grade 3

Standard 1:
The student will explore and refine the application of media, techniques, and artistic processes.
Objective 1:

Mrs. Munk's 2nd Grade Science - Pinterest Board

Click here to go to the Pinterest Board!

Proposed Project Summary

I will use a Pinterest Board while preparing lessons to promote productivity and creativity in the classroom. I will use activities from my Board in the classroom as well as find teaching helps. I may share various videos, etc. from the Pinterest Board in my classroom.

What is the BIG idea I want my students to walk away with?

I want my students to feel that science is fun and applies to their lives. By using the Pinterest board, I can easily find exciting and fun lessons and can even include my students in my search. I could have them help me find things they would like to do or would be interested in, teaching them how to be involved in their education.

Statement of Need (Why does this project need to be done)

Pinterest is a great tool to share ideas and knowledge. This project allows me to find better ways to teach to the specific interests and needs of my students as well as to share activities and information I find with my students.
